  12. WinExpress BBS was written in Visual Basic 1.0, under the trade name 
  13. WinExpress. Visual Basic is a programming language created by Microsoft
  14. Inc., which allows users to program in Basic for Microsoft Windows 3.xx
  15. Since the BBS is a Windows application it runs comfortably in the background
  16. while allowing the sysop to perform other tasks in the foreground. The BBS
  17. program itself takes up very little memory since it is a Windows program
  18. and not a DOS application.
